How Long Does Microblading Last

One of the hot new trends in semi-permanent makeup for eyebrows is Microblading. Due to its easy application procedure and fabulous, natural looking results, it is gaining more popularity every day. Being semi-permanent in nature it gives you the flexibility of opting out or changing your style when you feel like it. Typically it lasts for 1-3 years, depending on various factors.

More and more people are considering microblading each day. That’s why we are sharing some must-know details about microblading and how long it lasts for.

How Long Does the Procedure Last?

Microblading brows last roughly for 1 to 3 years. Since the pigment in microblading is not implanted into the skin as deep as it is done in the traditional tattooing procedure, it fades with time. How long it lasts for varies from one person to another and is dependent on factors like skin type (normal, oily, dry, combination), age (youthful or mature) and the regular skincare routine. Clients, who tan, use products with Glycol Acid or AHA, lose the microbalding effects sooner than others because their skin resurfaces faster. It is recommended to get a colour touch up done after 12 to 18 months of getting the initial procedure done.

How long does it take to do Microblading?

The entire process takes around 1 to 2 hours in all. The procedure is split into 2 appointments. The first appointment takes around 60 to 90 minutes. After this, there is a healing time of 4-6 weeks. The second appointment then takes 30 to 60 minutes.

Is there a Need for a Patch Test?

Yes. 48 hours prior to the first procedure, all clients are asked to do a patch test.

How long is the Healing Time?

Immediately after the procedure, the brow area is expected to appear slightly red and the colour of the brows will be very dark. This is a part of the procedure and should be treated as normal. The colour fades up to 40% as the healing takes place. In the next few days, the brows will appear slightly darker and would have a little scabbing. As healing takes place, the colour of the brows will lighten. Usually, the brows heal completely in 7 to 14 days. However, it takes around 1 month for the colour to completely set in.
